ORAL CANCER SCREEN
The Purpose of the Screens
The check aims to find any signs of cancer in your mouth early, so any necessary medical treatment can begin as soon as possible. During each examination, your dentist will look for any changes in your soft tissues such as the tongue, floor of mouth, lips, and cheeks. Some changes may put you at risk of cancerous developments in the future.
The Value of Early Detection
If we do find any precancerous or cancerous growths, we will immediately refer you to a specialist. Catching these at the early stage can allow you to get prompt treatment for a better outcome.
Because of smoking, alcohol consumption, and the presence of the HPV virus in our community, oral cancer screens should be done every 6-12 months.
